Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Last updated: 13 October 2026

In short: we collect only the health information reasonably necessary to triage referrals and provide psychiatric care. Referral, clinical and billing information is stored in Zanda, a practice-management platform, not on this website. This website has no forms or accounts.

Privacy Policy

Who we are

Rostam Psychiatry is the business name of Dr Fazel Rostamzadeh Bakhtiyari (ABN 37 503 342 642), a private adult telehealth psychiatry practice. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles, and applicable state and territory health records laws.

What we collect

We collect personal and health information reasonably necessary to assess referrals and provide care. This may include:

How we collect it

Usually from your referring GP, from you through online forms in Zanda, and during consultations. With your consent, we may also collect information from other treating practitioners.

How we hold it

Referral, clinical and billing information, appointment bookings and video consultations are managed through Zanda, a practice-management platform. Zanda states that Australian accounts are hosted in Amazon Web Services data centres in Australia. Zanda also states that during urgent or after-hours support, a team member based in another country may assist, and that it confirms compliance with Australian Privacy Principle 8 before that access. This website does not store patient information and has no patient-facing forms. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, the website you came from, your browser and device type, and your approximate country. This service does not use cookies, does not follow you across other websites, and is not used to identify individual visitors; Cloudflare may process this data outside Australia. The website has no advertising or tracking cookies and no tracking pixels. Payments are processed through Zanda and its payment provider; we do not hold your card details. Our website host may keep standard technical server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability; these are not linked to health information.

How we use and disclose it

We use your information to assess referral suitability, provide clinical care, communicate with your referring GP, arrange billing, and meet our legal obligations. We may disclose information:

We do not sell personal information or use it for direct marketing.

Recording, AI tools and automated decisions

Consultations are not recorded. If an AI note-taking tool is ever used, it will be used only with your consent, asked for at the start of that consultation, and you may decline without any effect on your care. Decisions about your care are made by your psychiatrist, not by automated computer programs.

Access and correction

You may ask to access or correct your health information using the contact details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. In limited circumstances access may be refused where the law allows, and we will explain why.

Data breaches

We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. If an eligible data breach occurs, we will act in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at privacy [at] rostampsychiatry.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992).

Terms of Use

General information only

This website is general information about the practice and its services. It is not medical advice, is not tailored to your circumstances, and is not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified practitioner. Viewing this website or sending a referral does not by itself create a doctor–patient relationship; that is established only through a confirmed consultation.

Scope of service

Rostam Psychiatry provides adult psychiatry by telehealth only; it has no in-person consultations. Referrals are accepted after a suitability review, and suitability is reassessed throughout care. The practice provides ADHD care only where there is an established diagnosis or the referring GP has completed most of the assessment, and autism (ASD) care only where there is an established diagnosis. It does not provide ADHD assessments started from scratch or any autism diagnostic assessment. It does not provide medico-legal reports, care for presentations that need in-person assessment or close monitoring, or emergency or crisis care. If in-person care becomes necessary, the patient and referring GP will be told and a transfer of care arranged. Patients must be physically located in Australia at the time of each consultation.

Fees and cancellations

Fees are disclosed before booking, and payment of the initial consultation fee is required before an appointment is confirmed. Medicare rebate eligibility, any gap payment, and cancellation and rebooking terms are provided in writing at the time of booking. Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge with at least 2 business days' notice. A cancellation fee of $200 applies with less notice. If you do not attend, or join more than 15 minutes late, the full consultation fee applies and no Medicare rebate can be claimed. These fees may be waived in genuine emergencies. If the practice cancels an appointment, or a referral is found to be unsuitable after payment, the payment is refunded in full. Medicare claims are lodged only after the consultation has taken place. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Third-party services

Bookings, intake forms, video consultations and payments are handled through Zanda under its own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content of external websites.

Changes

We may update this page from time to time. The date above shows the current version.

Emergencies. This website and practice are not for emergencies or crisis care. If you or someone else is at immediate risk, call 000, go to your nearest emergency department, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
